Comme des Garcon
Menswear Spring/Summer 2011
I am a huge fan of Rei Kawakubo.
However, this is too much for me to handle.
From the full skirt which was inspired from the 50's,
(but then again men don't wear skirt back then and now)
the full dresses and especially the skull imagery/prints.
This collection evoked an uneasy feeling for me,
I feel so down and almost depressed which
could categorized me as an 'EMO'.
Maybe thats what Rei wants to project.
Neo-Emo?
Glammed up Skaterboys?
Thats totally doesn't sound right.
Maybe it's a dash of disappointed in my heart.
Nothing else.
Last of Alexander McQueen's mens collection,
he beautified skulls and created it into amazing tapestry and wallpaper.
The collection was amazingly brilliant because of the skulls spectacular visual.
It was signed and sealed, McQueen.
McQueen marked his last menswear(click here if you wish to view)
as if to anyone who could
challenge his creations especially the Skulls.
Rei Kawakubo's skulls?
Could be drawn from the movie 'SCREAM'.
Gone were the days were Comme des Garcon
was truly Avant-Garde and Edgy.
That was in the early 80's and 90's.
